Nation pays tribute to Allama Iqbal’ s enduring legacy, timeless poetry

The Pakistani nation is enthusiastically paying highest homages to Poet-Philosopher Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal on his 147th birth anniversary on Saturday.

The social media platforms are also filled with heartfelt tributes paid to his timeless poetry while celebrating his birth anniversary and the enduring legacy of his visionary thinking.

Pakistanis from all walks of life are paying homage to Iqbal’ s remarkable contributions. His poetry, infused spiritual and philosophical insights amongst the masses, continues to captivate readers worldwide, said a report aired by PTV news channel. Born on November 9, 1877, in Sialkot, Iqbal’ s life was marked by academic excellence, literary genius and political activism.

“Dr. Iqbal’s poetry inspires me to strive for excellence and serve my nation.” said a student while sharing post in Whatsapp group added. “Iqbal’s vision for a separate homeland is a reminder of our responsibility to build a better Pakistan,” another youngster Ali Hassan from NUST University on Facebook group.

“His words have taught me the importance of self-respect, dignity, and national pride,” Amna Ahmed, LUMS added.

“Iqbal’s vision for a separate homeland is a testament to his prophetic insight.” Iftikhar Arif, poet and scholar added.

“Iqbal’s philosophy of ‘Khudi’ (self-respect) remains relevant today,” a political analyst mentioned. “His dream of a separate homeland continues to inspire Pakistanis worldwide.” Justice (retd) Nasira Javed Iqbal, Iqbal’ s granddaughter said.

“Iqbal’s poetry inspired my music, connecting me to my roots,” Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, singer also said in his post. “His words painted vivid images, influencing my art.” Sadequain Naqvi, artist said while sharing a picture on Instagram added. His poetry bridged the gap between East and West, showcasing Islamic values, said a teacher in his post on Twitter.

Acting President Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif paid heartfelt tribute to national poet Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal on his 147th birth anniversary.

In his message, Acting President Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani said Allama Iqbal’s work united the Muslims of the Subcontinent and his thoughts and speeches motivated them to wage a struggle to achieve a separate country for them.

He said the message of Dr Allama Iqbal emphasized Islamic values, advocating for spiritual and cultural revival, which has shaped Pakistan’s identity while his vision continues to resonate with youth, guiding and educating them to uphold Pakistan’s values and strive for progress.

In his message, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said Iqbal’s philosophy ignited the dream of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the subcontinent, leading to the creation of Pakistan.

He said the teachings of Allama Muhammad Iqbal on self-reliance, self-awareness and unity remain a source of inspiration for us to strive for progress and prosperity as a nation.

He urged the youth to rise above mediocrity and achieve greatness through unwavering faith and hard work. The Prime Minister expressed commitment to imbibing the vision of Allama Iqbal of building a nation that reflects his ideals of justice, equality, and excellence.
